Voltage Regulators
In an 11KV overhead distribution network volt drop can become an issue after only 10Km from the substation. The Cooper Power Systems VR-32 Voltage Regulator is a quick cost effective way of addressing the problem. By connecting two single phase regulators in an open delta arrangement a three phase supply benefits from 10% regulation, three connected in closed delta gives 15%. There is no reason why Regulator banks cannot be connected in cascade down long feeders. The Cooper Power Systems voltage regulator can also be used for regulation in circuits where there is embedded generation
These fully automated bi-directional devices are available for voltages up to 36KV and can be Pole or Station Mounted. An application finding favour with single transformer primary substations is to install a bank of regulators in the substation to enable 11KV back feed in the event of transformer loss for whatever reason. The alternative solution to the above problems requires an order of cost many times greater than Regulator banks. Further information at www.cooperpower.com
